Perfection
“You’ve forgotten one thing - me.”
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing you can’t fix.”
That one final scene from The Big Sleep gives me gooseflesh every damn time I watch it; one of those perfect moments in cinema. Seriously, why don’t people talk like that anymore?

Greatest Hits
Eleven years ago, after mercilessly tormenting our father, we had our monolithic 386 PC replaced by a Pentium II ‘multimedia’ machine. Needless to say, at the time it was a pretty big deal for my brother and myself. We’d finally gotten a CD ROM drive and there was this one CD; presumably a freebie thrown [...]

Massive Ego at Work
Yale: I mean we’re just people. We’re just human beings, you know? You think you’re God.
Isaac Davis: I… I gotta model myself after someone.
-Manhattan ( 1979,Woody Allen)
Ever since I can remember, I’ve never been satisfied with who I was. I’ve always pretended to be somebody with quirky tastes and admirable eccentricities. But then, that is [...]

I can’t contain myself. I’m giggling like a 10 year old. I haven’t been this excited in a while.
For a handful of us back in college, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle was a defining moment in our four years at that godforsaken place. It sort of gained a cult status back then and [...]

I recently found out that there’s a cinema in Melbourne (Cinema Nova) that plays offbeat films; so I decided to catch the french flick Paris, je t’aime which I’d been dying to see ever since I heard about it. Also, the lovely Ms Portman has a part in it.
Now, friends and family will vouch the [...]

What do you do when you’re in a foreign country and it’s too cold to go out sightseeing or too new to hang out with friends? You do what everyone else would do. Huddle up under a blanket, have milk and a peanut butter sandwich and watch the amazing Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast [...]

No Rain by Blind Lemon
Just saw the video this morning. I remember watching it as a kid. Amazing track. Amazing video. Sigh…music like this is so hard to come by these days. Sadly, the band never had another memorable track.

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watchin’ the puddles gather rain

Spider-Man 3: Review
*MILD SPOILERS AHEAD*
Perhaps the biggest problem with Spiderman 3 is that it’s had to bear the burden of expectation of countless fans, kids and comic book geeks alike. I’ve never been a Spidey fan but I was still pretty psyched about this film (psyched enough to get front row seats on opening day). After [...]

Nostalgia…
Disclaimer: Extremely unorganised thought process at work.
Last evening, Johnny and I decided to catch the animated remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Sitting in the cinema hall, we realised that out of the 20 odd people who actually turned up, we were pretty much the only 2 guys over 12. We were the only ones [...]
